Medicine of Wonder & the Science of Calm
Enrollment Interview (animal caregivers, start here!)

Emotional diseases are conditions that result in a clinically-significant disturbance of an organism's cognition, emotional regulation, and/or behavior. In humans, these conditions are associated with significant distress, impairment in functioning, or risk of self-harm. 1 in every 8 humans live with a mental health disorder.
Behavioral conditions are not exclusive to humans. Animal emotional disorders are on the rise in parallel to humans, negatively impacting the entire family-unit. Veterinary patients display clinical signs of emotional dysregulation (emotional disease) in the form of abnormal & undesired behaviors, uncontrolled & escalating levels of anxiety, and a significant degree of disruption of their family-unit's normal functioning.

Offering trauma-aware, family-unit focused veterinary consultations, Dr. Andre's Medicine of Wonder program proposes a 3-step approach to healing emotional disease in companion animals:
After your enrollment interview, Dr. Andre will make a determination about your family-unit's acceptance into the Medicine of Wonder (MofW) program. While enrolled in the MofW program, Dr. Andre may refer to you one or multiple of the program's follow-on services, listed below.
Dr. Andre is available for consultation on individual medical cases, to speak with members of an animal's medical care team, and to provide educational content on emerging solutions for emotional disease in animals.
- Heal the fear posture
- Establish communication with start/stop behaviors
- Teach the emotion of 'curiosity' through problem-solving games

As a veterinarian, I am consistently motivated by my desire to help mammals of all species (human and animal) repair and sustain their health and wellbeing. I believe that unashamed curiosity leads to unexpected and exciting discoveries. Within the exploration of each new discovery, the importance of scientific scrutiny, rigor, and precision is surpassed only by the importance of patient care, patient advocacy, and support of the patient's caregiver and family-unit.
View Dr. Andre's bio page here. My professional interests focus on novel and emerging medicines for trauma-induced emotional disease in animals, particularly canine post traumatic stress disorder (cPTSD). I specialize in the design of clinically-applicable medical protocols that leverage cross-species, shared emotional states and trauma-aware, family-unit focused approaches to medical problem-solving. |
Dr. Andre also provides veterinary harm reduction education to the emerging cannabis and psychedelic research, medical, and legislative ecosystems. She is currently developing clinically-applicable protocols for managing animal-patient exposures to psychoactive substances, and is investigating therapeutic applications for cannabis and psychedelic medicines in veterinary species.
